Organizing a softball team in your community can be fun. If there are at least 12 young people interested that will be enough to start a team. Assuming that there is a parent willing to teach the group, the first thing to do is learn the rules of the game. The rules are not very strict; informal teams can make their own rules. The important thing is that the kids are learning and enjoying.

Before the team can start practicing they need to get the necessary equipment. Initially they will need softball gloves, balls, bats, catcher’s equipment and uniforms. These are the very basic necessities that can start them practicing. More equipment can be acquired later. They can partner with some local businesses to get sponsorships that will finance the purchase of equipment.
