Fastpitch softball is a form of softball that is commonly played by girls. It can start at the age of six all through the college age. However, male and co-ed fastpitch leagues also exist. Here, pitchers throw the ball underhanded at speeds of up to 70mph from 40 to 43 feet away.

This game’s pitching style is completely different from that of slowpitch softball. Fastpitch pitchers throw the ball using a windmill type of pitch. The release must cause a spin motion on the ball which contributes to a important part of the speed. Catchers must be wearing fastpitch softball gloves to be able to easily catch these types of pitches.
