Harry Vardon is perhaps one of the most famous legends in the sport of golf. He was a member of the fabled Golf Triumvirate along with John Henry Taylor and James Braid. His clothing style was as remarkable as his record, winning The Open Championships a record six times along with his U.S. Open win.

The Vardon grip, immortalized in a Silver Cross Gallery golf sculpture, is the most popular among pro golfers today. This grip is an overlapping one, with the smallest finger of the trailing hand placed in between the index and middle fingers of the lead hand. The thumb of the lead hand should then fit into the lifeline of the trailing hand.
