What are Wedges?

An iron is a club that is used to propel the ball towards the hole. Iron clubs are literally made from iron. A standard set of 14 clubs will contain many irons numbered from 1 to 9. Number 1 iron clubs have the lowest loft. After number 9 irons are wedges which have the greatest loft due to its large head and short shaft. A golf wedge set is often considered separate from the iron set, but they are actually also irons.

Knowing which club to use makes a good golf player. But that is just part of the equation. Golf is a mental as well as physical sport. To be a good golfer needs a lot of practice as well as analysis. A good exercise routine will also be beneficial in developing the perfect swing.
